- Always wear sunscreen no matter rain or shine. Sun protection is an effective way to stop melasma from recurring. Since sun exposure triggers melasma, it makes sense to have sunscreen applied on your skin every day. So what would be the best sunscreen? I suggest using a sunscreen that contains zinc oxide or titanium dioxide for physical barrier against UV rays. Choose one with at least SPF 30. It is best to apply sunscreen every two hours for maximum protection.
- Sunscreen may not be enough to protect your whole body. For that reason, wear a wide-brimmed hat or find a shady place to shield your skin from the sun. You can also wear sun protective clothing.
